Eric Wilhite is a transplant from the States, apparently not eligible for local status for at least another 12 years according to Mitchey.  He also comes from a wintery background, managing the ski department at Outside Sports and having done his fair share of back to backs.  There is a bit of a dark biking history in his background, however... Mountain biking from the age of 10 on fully rigid bikes in the forests of Michigan and later moving on to road bikes and undertaking some substantial cycle touring around his home country.  He logged over 10,000km between riding west to east from Seattle to Washington D.C. and the following year heading North to South from Vancouver to San Diego.  That is a lot of pedaling!  Since spending his first summer in QT in 2007, however, and buying his first modern mountain bike, the off road scene has captured his imagination and it hasn't let go.  "Mountain Biking has got to be one of the most satisfying sports I can think of, you get heaps of adrenaline, an amazing workout, you can always progress and the conditions are never bad... perfect!"
