Earlier this week, two of our Receptionist went on a lovely afternoon out on one of the only coal-fired passenger boats left in the world. The TSS Earnslaw is the largest steamship built in New Zealand, originally made in Dunedin, dismantled and then sent piece by piece via rail to Kingston, where it was reconstructed again to then be the biggest boat on Lake Wakatipu.
Originally the Earnslaw was mainly a cargo ship, transporting everything from sheep to cars across the Otago area. Now, it’s a lovely way to see a different view of Queenstown, and sail over to Walter Peak farm, and enjoy the wonderful views of Queenstown and the mountains around the town.
If you’re only in town for a few days, this is a great way to spend an afternoon – learning various bits and pieces of Queenstown’s history, whilst taking in the sights along the way. An addition to the boat cruise is the option to enjoy the gourmet BBQ lunch (or dinner) that Real Journey’s provide, which in our opinion, is unmissable. The food, the ambiance, everything is just so well thought through and catered for; everyone will be very pleased with the afternoon.
Come and talk to them to find out more about it, and get yourselves out on the water!
